How we help

Building or renovating your home is a significant life moment for any family, so having the right people on your team makes the difference between a great experience and a disaster. We are well aware of the stories of how awful the process can be. We at Murray Long Builders have learnt over the last 20 years or so how to avoid the worst of it and change this all around to be a good, even enjoyable experience. We want our clients to enjoy the experience of the build process, which in turn results in their home carrying positive memories of creating it together. For us, the process of the build is as important as the finished product.

Recognising that building is a team effort, we have pulled together a dependable team of competent builders and subcontractors who are highly skilled and passionate about their part in the build and who add to the enjoyment of building your home. We have a good time building and love what we do.

The process

1. Meet with us to discuss your plans

We can work directly with you or through an architect depending on your circumstances. Typically we enter the conversation when you have chosen an architect and have your plans ready for building, we can advise on this if you haven’t selected an architect. We will have a coffee with you at this stage, look at your plans and listen to what it is you are needing to achieve. This helps us get an understanding around what circumstances have brought you to the point of building, so that we can best serve your expectations. We’ll then provide you with costings that are clear and comprehensive to enable you to understand the full value you will receive from us.

2. Starting the project

When we have an agreement to proceed, we’ll work with you to compile the necessary contractual and guarantee paperwork and get underway with the project. We communicate regularly throughout the build with the design and construction teams and with you so that all parties are fully informed in all matters. We provide clear and concise monthly invoicing so you can see how your hard earned dollars are being spent. Where necessary we will direct you to the best suppliers and or designers for the parts of the project that make it yours. This level of communication enables the job to run smoothly and adds to the enjoyment and personalisation of the work.

3. Finishing up

Once we have finished and agree all work meets expectations, we collate the paperwork and ensure all certificates and guarantee documents are ready for submission. We’ll keep in contact to ensure the house is performing as expected and also to see you in your new home.
